On September 26, Forest Foundation Philippines held an online webinar to raise awareness about #SaveSierraMadreDay and to soft launch its new Knowledge Platform for the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park (NSMNP).
The event highlighted some of the key issues that affect the Park. The former chairperson of Forest Foundation Philippines, Jose Ma. Lorenzo “Lory” Tan, discussed past, present, and future threats to the Park, with a strong emphasis on climate change. NSMNP Assistant Protected Area Superintendent Cherish June G. Holongbayan talked about the Park’s legal framework, while Marites Gatan-Albas and Merlijn van Weerd of Mabuwaya Foundation discussed the Park’s ecosystem services, biodiversity, and conservation actions.
To develop the Knowledge Platform, Drink provided the following services: archival research, editorial services, and web design and development. It can be viewed here: https://northernsierramadre.forestfoundation.ph
