Drink’s Sustainability team gets together to learn about strategy development.

The latter two quarters of the year at Drink are dedicated to training and development. As the organization has transitioned to 100% online work, so have the learning sessions. However, there are instances when face-to-face instruction is the best way to learn.
This is what the Drink Sustainability team experienced in their recent sustainability and strategy development training. Writer, multiplatform arts worker, and strategist Carissa Pobre conducted the eight-session course from September to December 2023.
Carissa tackled topics that delved deeper into different sustainability perspectives, personal values, and issues related to the environment, society, and governance. All the topics covered aim to equip the sustainability team with the competency and confidence to develop strategies based on Drink’s priorities and evolving client needs.
The team’s learning was made more interesting by in-person discussions and hands-on learning activities that would have been limited if done through an online platform. Additionally, team members who do not meet regularly in person have the chance to spend time together.
The sustainability and strategy development training was originally slated to be an online class, but the group pivoted to face-to-face learning as they found value in being physically present together. They also augmented their training by studying online references such as podcasts, videos, and journals.
While advances in technology have opened up access to new experiences and resources in the digital world, there is still value in physical interactions. Drink uses these opportunities for its people to learn with and from each other.
